Uveitis

Uveitis also called Moon Blindness is a painful condition of the eye, caused by inflamation of some of the structures within the eye, such as the Chorid, the Iris and the Ciliary body. This could lead to the development of Equine Recurrent Ureitis an autoimmune deasease that is often difficult to treat and in severe cases results in blindness. Uveitis can initially be caused by a number of different factors, and treatment will depend on the initial cause of the inflamation.

There is much that is yet to be understood about Uveitis but it is thought that Leptospira a form of bacteria may somehow interfere with the immune system of the eye

Symptoms include discharge, swelling of the area around the eye, closure of the eylids, and a hazy blue apperance to the eye.
