A most enjoyable day was had by all at the annual North of Scotland Shetland Pony Group open day, this year held at the Wells Stud, St John’s Wells, Fyvie. The sun was shining and there was a good turnout of both people and ponies’
Entertainment included various competitions, raffles and stock judging of ponies and sheep. Hamish Hunter BVMS MRCVS from Devron Vets, gave a concise talk on worming : Dr Scott Pirie BVM&S PhD Cert EM ( Int Med ) Cert EP Dip ECEIM MRCVS from The Royal ( Dick ) School of Veterinary Studies gave a most informative talk of Equine Grass Sickness and Equine Metabolic Syndrome : David McClelland, Technical Director from Norvite, gave a quick synopsis on vitamins and minerals needed specifically for our area of the country. Fran Punton took home the star prize of the pony ” Wells Prudy ” in the raffle.
Over £600 was raised for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund.
